denny411
Well to start with, I finished the z. (bone stock mechanicals)I had just finished installing new front struts and decided to take it for a ride to see how it handled, and if that funky vibration up front was gone. I was a couple miles out of town when a kid in a Prelude Si FARTED past me. I thought to my self... This just won`t do. Everything felt good on the car, so at the next stop sign the kid tries to pull away. I pull up to the sign, look both ways, and get on it. He had about a three car lead on me which I quickly made up. By the time I bang third I`m right beside him, so I pull fourth and pass him up. I pulled in in front of him with plenty of time to stop at the next crossroad about 1/3mi. The guy with me was watching the kids face as we passed. He says the kid was gritting his teeth and his eyes were darting from the windshield to the speedo "SILLY RICE BOY" So with the adrenaline pumping and my heart racing I drive casually home. (with a BIG grin on my face)
DavyZ
Sometimes it feels good to step on the underpriv...oh, I mean 'underpowered.' Just wait until you are finished with that beast. Taking on bigger fish will be even better. Davy

denny411
This car is staying stock. I`ve got two others that will be V8`ed later. One will get a 355 sbc the other will get the 383 sbc. I`ve got a prospective buyer for this one, but I just had to take it out and cruize it. (at least a few times) the guy who might be buying it plans to swap in a V8 as cash permits, but I think he will be satisfied as it is, for a while. I regret selling this one because the car looks really sharp. I`ve been turning heads with it for two days now. The money from the sale WILL go to a good cause though.(my other car)
Guest livewire23
what kind of Z are you running? I want to know how much work itll take to get a 280z to outperform my prelude SI. that way i can finally kil my friend's nissan "sentra on steroids"
denny411
It is a bone stock 77 280 4 spd, with 85,000 mi. The n47 head was reworked about 2,000mi ago, but mechanically it`s nothing special. The only mods are for weight reduction and cosmetics. I have a 73 240 front bumper and the rear valance is smoothed with the bumper removed. It also has a 3 piece rear spoiler, fiberglass air dam, factory louvers, and shaved marker lights. I took some pics today but don`t have anywhere to host them.
Guest livewire23
cool, im in the process of buying a 77 280z. If only I could be two people and race myself... Oh well, next best thing, Ill let a friend drive and race. should be close because the prelude has more hp, but the Z has more torque. I think the lude's power shows up earlier in the power band though. Maybe I'll attempt to tape it.
