CRX and a Del Sol both go down...

This kill did not happen in my Z(still in pieces). I was driving my 94 Probe GT. I pulled up behind a CRX at the light, next to it was a Del Sol. They were both reving at each other like crazy. A smile pulled across my face and I wished this road had another lane. The light turns green and they're off. I switched lanes and got behind the Del Sol as he passed the CRX. Then as soon as I cleared the CRX I switched lanes again. I then procceded to reel in the Del Sol. It was so funny seeing the look on their faces as I passed each of them. The Del Sol must not have learned his lesson, for at the next light he was wanting another piece of me. I thought...wasn't it bad enough that I beat you while you were racing someone else and had a head start on me. Well needless to say he got spanked again...badly! malebitchslap.gif The sad thing is my Probe GT is not all that fast. Its quick but not "fast". And here I thought Del Sols were sports cars. At least thats what the local rice claim. I wish I still had my 300+HP Mustang, then they would know what fast is.

Man, ricers are such a joke. I used to catch them racing all the time, then pass both of them with ease in my old Cadillac. They would be at WOT and see my 4000 lb. sedan go flying by them, then after I've passed them both I start slowing down and get the royal ricer flyby, hazard lights and all. They just can't accept defeat!

Well, I have a different story on the Del Sol's. A freind of mine has one that is VERY quick for a Honda. It is far from stock though. It has NO interior except 2 seats, that's it no radio or nothin'. I forget what he did to the engine, but had a lot of internal work done and a crap load of Mugen stuff. No turbo, no nitrous, just all motor. Suspension was set up for road racing and had slicks on. He took me for a ride when it was all finished. First thing I noticed when I shut the door is how tinny it was with no sound deadening, no door panels and no carpet. Started it up and you could hear that he had a wild cam, it was like the 4 banger would start, then stop for a split second then start again, sounds really funny (whew....whew....whew ect.) Takes me out on the road and this thing is WAY to loud. We had trouble talking over all the exaust noise and road noise, definetly not a street car. He floors this thing from a stop light and HOLY crap! Not kidding you, this is a solid 12 second car! Suprised the heck out of me. After he hit fourth gear I started to get a bit scared, I mean that quick in a tin can? You would be too. If he blew out a tire or something, it would have been a really bad outcome.

I don't know why these guys go to such extremes to obtain decent acceleration. This car was really just a shell with some wheels and an engine attatched to it, that's it. But hey, to each thier own.

!M!

Lol, sounds like this car i saw yesterday at a honda shop i frequent ( a real performance shop, not some fart can retailer). They were workin on a CRX that had a leaky cold start valve. Sounded the exact same way. and exhaust came out the tail like the car had a horrible cough.

I dunno, but I never thought the del sol was a sports car. That POS is almost as heavy as my prelude, and whereas my prelude has 2.3l, it only has 1.8 or 1.6, i forget which. And my Prelude is MUCH bigger, and wider too. I probably get better handling than those little bloated vehicles. It looks like a mid-engined car, but its not. Im not sure what the point of that design is. It probably would've been fun if it was lighter and mid-engined. Like a Honda MR2. oh well.

You want to see a surprised look on a face, you shoulda seen mine at the local track's T&T. i'm sitting beside a plain jane del sol, not thinking about it much, light turns green and a 1/4 mile and 13.2 secs later i look over at the finish line and the little booger's bumper is on my door and pulling on me. Another 200ft and the SOB woulda had me. i don't know what he did to it but it definitely was not stock. what a sleeper. and strangely enough, he was impressed w/ my car's time. Go figure. Later
