alabamaman882
hello, I am a proud owner of a 78 280z coupe and i currently havce all the necessary parts to put the arizona 4 barrel manifold in place of my pooched efi, and the question that i had was whether or not it is alright to remove the efi fuel pump and put a lower pressure inline electric in its place, or......? thanx for any suggestions, gets me one step closer to melting the rubber off from those dry rotted tires

ASA240Z
alabamaman882 not to be biased, but why do you wanna go 4 barrel? For a Z, SU's IMO there alot easiler to work on and more reliable. You could probably get a set for about the same price of a four barrel and its intake. Also a lot of guys here would agree that Su's perform better and can be tuned to perfection. If your interested check Z theraphy out. They offer complete rebuild kits and even a 2 hour video on everthing about the carbs. Away good luck on your project. I have been running one on my Z for 5 yrs. $15.00 at he bone yard. they pump at 4 to 5psi. and will feed a set of tripples on a stroker if needed. Quiet too. Just be sure it is not a injected RX . SU'dCrazy280
I have used SU's and Holley four barrel carbs. Right now on my current Z after FI problems, I just installed the AZ zcar manifold, Holley Red fuel pump, FP regulator and a nice 390cfm. I did this all myself and I am what you could call an "amateur mechanic." This is an extremely easy setup, and the first time I turned the key it fired right up. The car runs great, and I am happy with the definite increase in hp. Just make sure to run a hot wire from the Holley red to a power wire somewhere else on the vehicle, (I almost hooked it up to the original wiring), as the FI pumps work totally different. I would recommend the 4-barrel set up, the SU setup is equally comparable though.
