george.bryant
The intercooler piping doesnt have a fitting for this hose like the factory j pipe does. What do I do with it? Bolt in end of hose with hose clamp round it?
thehelix112
As a wild guess I would think that is connected to the idle air control valve for cold-start. It should close off as the engine comes up to temperature, so you could just way a filter on the end of it. But if you end up with boost issues it may be leaking, so you should weld a hose flare onto the cooler pipes for it to attach to. stagefumer11
Its your main idle controll valve feed. Cold start. and throttle dampener. You do need it. unless you tweak the TB open a little. (not the best idea)
george.bryant
So what do I do nick? feed it from somewhere else? Can i feed it from that pipe that goes into the turbo (that the afm is on)?
Cody 82 ZXT
You just need to copy the way it is setup on to your new intercooler piping.
zguy36
This hose feeds all of your idle control stuff. My opinion of old stock nissan idle control is pretty poor. I am pretty sure all the components were worn out and not performing properly, but when I took them all of, the car idled better than ever. I drive mine in a temperature range of 20-110 degrees and haven't had much of a problem. When it is really cold outside, you just have to be a little careful to not let the engine die for about two minutes, then it idles great. In my opinion, take all that crap off and plug the hose. george.bryant
Hey, got the cooler installed the idle control hose running from about 2 inches away from the t/b on the top pipe. Could you please give me some pics of your motor with the idle stuff removed and tell me what else needs to be done?
VinhZXT
GB, Here is a picture of my intake. I still retain that return hose from the output of the turbo. The engine uses this return air for idling by using the Vacuum Control Valve. It also utilizing this VC valve as a blowoff valve. This is the little round valve screwed into the 4th runner of the stock turbo intake. I just realized that is a Maxima you have there.. cool..
