Gavin
How do you fill the transmission through the shifter? I removed the actual lever but the oil isn't draining into the trans. Do I have to remove more than this or what? Thanks, Gavin
OlderThanMe
it just takes a while...do a little at a time...and it helps to remove the driveshaft to vent air out of the transmission.
z_cars_rule
Well i just used the filler hole on the g'box and ran a hose so that i could sit in the car and pour it from the shifter hole location.
280Zone
I know I filled my 75 4 -speed from the shifter hole once, but I tried it on my rebuilt 5-speed and it is not working. This is not a time issue I have waited a month and it isn't seeping in. Lucky for me I can get the fill plug out and will be going that route. jvanen
I've cheated before and took out the speedo gear and filled it that way. good luck.
Gavin
Maybe it can't be filled through the shifter on a 78 5-speed. I used the reverse sensor hole, its at the same level as the filler.
