zeiss150
Hi Z people ... My driver side break light and blinker arn't working. The tail light works just fine but no driver side blinker or break light.... passenger side works just fine. Where can I start trouble shooting? Keep in mind I suck at electrical stuff, so try to explain it to me like im a 2 year old. Thanks for your help. P.S. I do have a volt meter. Guest 280ZForce
ok get out the volt meter and check every wire to the bulbs u r havin problems w/. u will have to turn your lights on, check the volts, put a brick or something on the brake pedal, check the volts, turn on the turn signal, check the volts...if u want u can do the same to the good side to compare results so u know which wires r bad or need to be fixed, etc.
zeiss150
How do I check the volts with the volt meter... the black wire goes... the red wire goes... ? the meter should read? Sorry for the dumb questions ... and they are dumb... but I just don't know how to do it. Thanks again
Guest 280ZForce
u touch the voltmeter stick on each connection of the light socket. to double check yourself on all this and to learn something...do all the tests on the good side 1st so u know which is supposed to have voltage and when. when there is power on it should read 12v approx for the power wires. 2126
You likely have a worn out turn signal / light switch assembly. I had the same problem, checked everything, replaced the bulbs, etc., etc. If you are good at reading wiring diagrams, you will see that the switch assembly is part of the tail light circuit and after 20+ yrs of use, the contacts tend to wear out. A new switch assembly, if I remember correctly, is around $90.00........I purchased mine from Courtesy Nissan in Texas.
zeiss150
Just an update for everyone! 2126 was right on the money. It was my turn signal. I took it apart and "rebuilt" it (cleaned the contact points lubed and so on) I put it back on and like magic... it worked. Thanks for the tips 280zforce and 2126. You guys rock! My tail lights work awesome. Long live hybrid Z!
