i took the intake and exhaust manifolds off to make it a bit easier to move around, [and i'm changing them anyways]

it's really nice working on a new motor thats clean, and you don't have to fight every rusty nut and bolt.

 

i'm picking up an engine stand for it later today.

I would strip all the stuff off the 'back' of the motor and use a standalone that reads timing from the crank.

 

Swapping the ignition from distributor to coil packs with ignitor is not gonna be a simple task. It has been done in the past... but I'd rather drop the whole thing.

 

Tec3, SDS, or something the like would be great in this case.

What about using an output from a standalone to switch the VVL? Is it like on the S14 engine where you have a little electronic solenoid that can be switched on to adjust intake cam timing?:confused:

 

It sure would be interesting to tune.
