JessZ
I am on the verge of doing this, but I am hesitant to commit. Jon, or any others, will this cam/head work with a flat tops .020 over and worked SU's for day to day street driving on Ca. gas? I have been leaning towards turbo because of the pinging scare I have developed learing about the na motors. But I still love the idea of a lopey sounding Z. BTW the head and cam cost $500. My build is coming soon, I will supply pics as I build, if I can make a intellgente choice. Thanks again everybody...Jesse

I'm not sure if you're talking about an L24 or L28 block, but it doesn't change the bottom line for me either way. You can get an old L28 and make more power than you will with the L24. If you're talking about an L28 with flat tops and an E31, well that's what I have now. Mine's a little shaved and running ~11:1 and it requires 95 octane. So either way, I'd pass. I did run an L28 with dished pistons and the E31, and that worked OK, but by the time I put the bigger valves in it I think I would have been A LOT better off going with a flat top block and the P90 head and shaving the head as described on Brian Little's page.
