JessZ
DAW commented that one could "Take the N42 dished pistons off their rods, have the rim of the piston dish turned down until it is just in the same plane as the floor of the dish. Install milled pistons onto L24 rods (in the process, match up the weights of piston/rod assys and match rotating masses onto common crank throws)." I am curious if this is a proven technique that works. Jon has talked me into using my L24 rods for my L28 build, but if I can save $600 by using my old dished pistons rather than buying new forged flat tops that would be great. JMortensen
I think you need to read a book or two about this build. Go buy How to Rebuild Your Nissan/Datsun OHC Engine and How to Hotrod Your Nissan/Datsun OHC Engine. $30 in books might save you a whole bunch more later on. You could get dished pistons and mill them down, but you can't press the pin out of a cast piston, mill it, then press it onto an L24 rod. If you had floating pins, then you could, but our Datsuns came with pressed wrist pins. Get the books. They'll really help out.
