savageskaterkid
Yesterday I popped off the valve covers on the 78' and noticed one of the gaps between the to lobes on the cam was RED. I asked a guy at work about this, and he said GM uses colors on the cam to tell what kind of cam it is, he said that RED is an upgraded one. Does Nissan do the same thing? The reason I ask is on the old Z i don't remember seeing any color on the cam at all.
JMortensen
Can't remember seeing a stock cam with a red stripe. My current cam has a yellow, white, and orange stripe IIRC. I'm sure that's the way the cam grinder kept track of it when it was reground, so I would guess that it might be an aftermarket cam. Good luck figuring out what it is from that red spot though. savageskaterkid
for verification, i looked at my old cam from the ZX and it has no color AT ALL. So im hoping that this one in the car is a mild or hot cam. I won't be able to tell untill i get the car running right though.
