Guest Anonymous
I know this subject has probably been beaten to death, but I'm having a hard time finding the wheels I want in my area. I'm looking for 16"x7" zero offset 4 lug wheels. Everyone I've talked to here tells me I would have to custom order this size. Is this true? I know I can get Panasports, but they aren't really what I was looking for. Is a 5 lug conversion my only option? Thanks for any info. Guest Anonymous
Centerline makes a wheel called "STAR" that will fit. 4lug, 16X7 with zero offset. It took about two weeks to get them on special order. I paid $169.00 per wheel. I also looked into adaptors/spacers. When I took my car into have the off-set measured for the custom adaptors, the owner of the shop took one look at the V-8 and immediately discouraged me from going with adaptors. Guest scca
5 lug isnt the only option but its the only reasonable option. if you were ever thinkning of doing larger brakes you do that and the 5 lug at the same time. the ONLY reason to keep 4 lug would be if you HAD rims or had a line on a good used set. finding 4 lug stuff is impossible and the choices are limited to a few rims (off the shelf) if you want to spend $2k or more on rims then thats not an issue as all 3pc wheels are custom made. for what it costs for a set of new panasports you can do the 5 lug conversion and small brake upgrade and get used rims from a 300 or a stang.. or others. ------------------ Mike mike@fonebooth.com http://www.fonebooth.com/brakes.html raceparts and brake upgrades. MYRON
Why must you have a zero offset? I am running 16x8 weld draglites with a 4.5 offset.. It did take some time finding them though. I paid 167.00 each for them... they look great, but are not suitable for autoX. Myron
Guest Anonymous
You mean 4.5 inch backspacing. That's right about 0 offset, give or take 5mm or so. ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com
Modern Motorsports Ltd
I'm not leary of spacers once I got up to speed on their important aspects. For someone open to spacers I can sell the 5 spoke Riken's (like Motorsport Auto usually has on a few cars) in 16x7 +20mm offset for $525 brand new, not a common look and v. desireable by some. The zero offset I cleared out a long time ago.
Drax240z
Ross, have you found a local sourse that will make custom spacers for you? If so, hook me up. My wheels need about a 1" change. ------------------ "Gimme Fuel, Gimme Fire, Gimme that which I desire" -Metallica Drax240z 1972 240z - L28TURBO transplant on the way! http://members.xoom.com/r_lewis/datsun.html

Danno74Z
Here is a site to try out for wheel adaptors and spacers. http://www.salesco.com/wheels/adapters.htm Another site http://www.zdriver.com/article2.htm Danno74Z [This message has been edited by Danno74Z (edited November 05, 2000).]
Drax240z
Does that include a change of bolt pattern? I am thinking I'd like to have a 4x100mm pattern to give me a crazy amount of wheel choices. Do you sell them Mike? ------------------ "Gimme Fuel, Gimme Fire, Gimme that which I desire" -Metallica Drax240z 1972 240z - L28TURBO transplant on the way! http://members.xoom.com/r_lewis/datsun.html
Danno74Z
Evan, I've had your article bookmarked for sometime and always admired your car and good article. Sorry for not mentioning your name in my reply above. I have a couple questions. What offset and backspacing are your new 17x8 OZ monte carlos and are you still using the adapters? Thanks and again sorry for the oversight Danno74z
Guest Frank280z
www.jdwheels.com I'm looking at the rohz's for now. I also see that tsw makes fwd style rims with a 15mm offset for rwd. Just some info.....Frank
Guest John Adkins
I was looking at the Prime wheels website found that most of their RWD wheels are available in the 4 on 4.5 bolt pattern. They don't have the "Ricey" looking wheels that most of the newer wheel companies make but most of the Prime wheels look pretty good. here's an example: http://www.primewheel.com/Primecatalog/pdetail.asp?model=

Guest scca
Evan, how much did you pay for the spacer/adpaters that you used for the Honda rims? ------------------ Mike mike@fonebooth.com http://www.fonebooth.com/brakes.html raceparts and brake upgrades. Guest Anonymous
troutman I'm told will custom make spacers/adaptors for very little more than the prices on their web site. Note that they are centerbore adapting spacers as well, which is always nice. ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com
Evan Purple240zt
Sorry for not responding sooner!! I totally forgot i posted on this whole deal. First, SCCA, the adapters are 200 bucks a set. Morgan, centerbore doesnt make a diff on our zcars. They are lug centric wheels FYI. Danno, thanks for the compliment. I am running adapters with the OZ rims. They are of diff thickness. I dont even happen to remember what they will be (not on car yet). Im completeing my coilover conversion tomorrow! All the rims i have run with adapters are of a 40mm offset. Check out this URL to my buddy ron and my new website. It has some pics. The best pic is of the wheel adapter bolted up with no rim on it. You can really see what it is. Thanks all- Evan PS feel free to email me if you guys have questions. I dont come over here too much. Im pretty busy with school and my z right now! Guest Anonymous
Wheels are only lugcentric when you don't match the centerbores! ------------------ Morgan http://z31.com/~morgan/s30 http://carfiche.com
Guest scca
how many rims have the centerbore to match? ZX factory rims seem to but do any early wheels aftermarket have it? i dont recall slots fitting to tightly to the hub.
