Workinprogress Posted May 27, 2006 Share Posted May 27, 2006 I went to a friend's grandpa's house yesterday and took these pictures of what he said was an RB motor and transmission. Obviously this isnt, but what is it and what is it from? This guy's grandpa got the entire drivetrain from a mid to late 80's Nissan (grandkid said 300zx, but dont think so) The taillight pics are from the donor car, as are the wheels. The yellow car is a Triumph that he was going to transplant all of this into. Is it worth getting any of this? I have a 75 280z that I'm rebuilding the engine with triple webers, ported head, aggresive cam, header, etc... I know the tranny is a 5 speed and may be worth pursuing, but the rest looks, blah.. s3079893 Posted May 28, 2006 Share Posted May 28, 2006 Yeah the engine is a vg30e by the look of it (z31 i believe) so it is likly that the rest of the drive train is also 300zx. Workinprogress Posted May 28, 2006 Author Share Posted May 28, 2006 The donor car had 43k on it and was a rollover (friend's grandpa said this) Friend and brother took the car and removed everything, then used a sawzall and cut up the body and sold it for scrap. It has been in this old dusty garage for several years. (friend's screwy brother took ac compressor, starter and a few other things off and ebayed them) The old guy now has medical problems and needs cash. Would the 5 speed be worth using? Kennysgreen280zt Posted May 28, 2006 Share Posted May 28, 2006 If that taillight is off the 'donor' car, its was a 200sx SE... with the V6. The diff should be a 3.9 R200 and is prob the only thing worth anything in the pile, and that isnt saying much. Its a little odd, since the taillight is a 200sx unit, and the wheel is 4 lug, the V6 200sx's were 5 lug..... s3079893 Posted May 28, 2006 Share Posted May 28, 2006 u have a keen eye kenny good pick on the tail light. the hubs are very rusty, surpringly the rest of the rear suspension assembly looks pretty good (if the car rolled u would have to make sure that it is straight).
