Yet another question about using stock exhaust

I've done some searching but am still not convinced, LOL. I have a 280Z with a GEN1 350 in it, not a JTR setup. I am just starting the parts gathering for a LT1/4L60E swap. I am not running headers now, I'm using RamsHorn manifolds, yeah, yeah, but I hate dealing with headers. My donor car is a ' 94 Z28. I sure looks to me like the stock exhaust manifolds would fit. Anyone tried this, and if so what exactly won't fit? There sure looks like they fit tight to the block with lots on clearance on both sides in the Camaro.

In reality these should fit by my thoughts. I quick lift with the engine hoist will answer this question. Ram's horn manifolds were typically found on Corvettes. Their design placed high on the head with the downpipes tight and centered. I think most people use headers because the other stock manifolds jut out and down too far. Headers also give that performance look. The upside to cast manifolds is far less bell ringing and underhood heat. The difference in power is not significant unless the headers are very well designed and the engine is quite modded IMHO. Try to fit them and tell us how it worked.

Totally agree about your assessment on headers. I will be running a stock engine so I see no advantage to running headers. I'll see if the stock stuff will fit and go from there.
