innerware
OK so this is pretty dumb. But I am removing and replacing the coolant outlet ( the one near the altenator) and I was wondering if I can use any paper gasket material or a liquid gasket? If a liquid one which one. Sorry for the silly question as I should know the answer. Thanks
zeiss150
paper gasket should work fine. If you want to use silicon thats fine too Just use a high temp one like RTV (or is it RVT Whatever). If you use the silicon make sure that you don't use to much, there should be none squeezed into the water passage. I think I used paper. Good luck! Twizted
Yep, either is fine. Red is the most common high temp gasket maker to use. And definately heed the warning of using too much. Just enough to coat the machined portions will be fine.
innerware
thanks guys. And it is RTV. Stands for Room Temperature Vulcanization. I use it to cast stuff for work. But I'll buy the automotive stuff. Thanks again, Kyle
