Moridin
Anyone going? I'm going to be working the whole weekend for a certain Porsche team. Anyone want any pictures of anything specific?
JMortensen
I'd love to see cage pics from the car you're working on (Flying Lizard, right?), but also from the BMW's and Audis. If you can get some shots around the splitter/airdam areas too I'd be really interested in that. Really whatever chassis/cage/suspension type shots you can get from any of the cars would be interesting to look at. Good luck!
Scottie-GNZ
Anxiuosly awaiting my annual trek to PLM. Looks like one of the european Judd-powered P1 cars will be there along with the Zytek to give the Audi diesels some competition. Also heard there will be some Ferraris and a Maserati to compete with the Astons and C6s in GT1. That should be quite a race.

I can easily get the cage pics as they are universal among all the Porsche GT3's. They have some awesome cage pics on Vermont SportsCar's website. Here: http://www.vtcar.com/photo.htm One of the guys from them worked a few races back in 2004 for FLMS when I was there before. Works and crews for Travis Pastrana quite a bit. Was probably at the X-Games too (wish I could have been there to see the Colin McRae roll over). Which Audi's did you want me to look at? The Stasis cars? I'm not sure if World Challenge is going to be running the same weekend at Road America, but I'll check it out. If I get a chance to go to the shop up at Infineon for FLMS, Stasis is there too if I recall. I've met Ben Bauer a few times too (black S4 with KO4's...been in my Starbucks to get some coffee on track mornings). I'll see what I can do. Make for some hard work, but would be a bit of fun. I would get to go over the wall more than once. I wonder what Ferrari's. Probably the old Prodrive 550's that gave the C5R's a run for their money a few years ago. I'm not sure if the Maserati is legal. I know it wasn't before because of overall length, so they weren't running for points, just for exposure. I believe it had been doing well in FIA GT. I always liked to Zytek. I'm suprised they're not trying to run in P2 with the two Porsches. Dyson also upped their game 100% back in Utah. Finally got one of the cars to last. I'm wondering if the Euro Judd car is running the new motor. I was reading in RaceCar Engineering about it. Supposed to make a bit more torque, yet be quite a lot better with fuel economy. Scottie-GNZ
Creative Autosportif has 2 cars running the latest S2 version of the Judd V10. One will be at PLM and both will be at Laguan Seca. There is the possibility both cars will run the full 2007 ALMS season. As for the Ferrari, word has it that the 550 and 430 that competed at LeMans will both be here. That will help put a little more spice in GT2 too. The Zytek has been sold to another team but the car should still be competitive in ALMS. The Maserati put on a decent show (and the sound!) at PLM last year so nice to have a little more variey. Should also be interesting to see the new IMSA Lights class which allows a variety of enines including the Suzuki Hyabusa. So tired of the monotone drone of the Star Mazda and other spec series, worst of all those awful sounding Panoz spec cars. They sound like a clapped-out V8 car whose muffler fell off. The Mazda's make quite the racket in the morning when you're trying to eat breakfast in the catering tent. The Risi 430 has been blowing every other GT2 car off in terms of lap times for quite a while now. They finally got some luck at Utah and Portland, and put those lap times to good use. If its an additional 430 competing, then it will definitely be fun to watch. If I'm not working Laguna, I'll definitely be there as a fan. I went last year and saw the two Astons, both C6Rs, and the Saleen all within half a second of eachother for more than a few laps. It was pretty awesome. I thought ALMS and World Challenge and the Speed Touring Cars ran the same tracks on the same weekend. I haven't been watching too much racing on TV lately. Most of the time they do, but there are a few tracks where they run without the ALMS group. I just looked up the schedule and they will be at the next two races (Road America and Mosport) that I'm going to be working.
srgunz
Here is the weekend schedule. I will be there too. http://www.roadamerica.com/2006/images/races/ra500/generac_500_schedule_06.pdf
Scottie-GNZ
World Challenge and Speed Touring are on the PLM agenda this year. They were not last year and the supporting races were Star Mazda, Formula BMW, Panoz spec and VW Bug spec. YIKES! After JJ Lehto took out the Zytek in turn 1 of the 1st lap! and the Dysons started having their typical unreliable race, it was not long before I lost interest and left early. I wish they would bring TransAm back to PLM but the World Challenge C6s and Vipers make up for that I guess. Anyone the Atlanta area should plan on attending the Petit LeMans race. You have lived until that Judd and the Mazda triple-rotor makes your ears bleed.
Moridin
Just wait until you hear the Audi Diesels. Such a stark contrast in sound volume. I swear they are no louder than a passenger car when compared to everything else on the course.
