Head to Block grounding.

MSD ignitions highly recommends that engines with aluminum heads be grounded to the block with ground strap. This is because one of the problems encountered with failure of the MSD box is high secondary resistance. I have added a picture of how I added a supplement ground using existing threaded holes in the head and block. I picked up the strap at a retail hot rod shop.

It was just the right length.

Pardon dirty motor.

Grounding is absolutely necessary on any engine not just those with MSD's. Poor or lack of grounding the engine to the frame, body, and battery when using rubber engine mounts will cause all kinds of problems. IMO you need to ground heads to the body or frame, block to the frame and battery to the frame, and body to the frame. It is easy and can be very inconspicuous.
