240zV8 Posted September 10, 2006 Share Posted September 10, 2006 I checked the oil in the trans a couple months ago and it was alittle low so i topped it off, maybe put alittle to much. But anyway, The past couple weeks when i accelerate kinda fast from a dead stop, it'll hang 1st gear and upshift late. it doesn't do it if i accelerate normally. Could this be caused by to much oil? Or is it whats below? this is what consumer guide said about that model (91' chevy k2500 truck) Automatic transmission: 700-R4 automatic transmissions may shift late or not upshift at all. Because all the other shifts are fine, and i don't want to end up making it worse. I can still accelerate normal and it won't over rev 1st. With the symptoms of over revving in 1st gear before it shifts to 2nd with moderate (about 1/2 throttle) accelleration, would i adjust(tighten) the cable more towards 1/8"? If that's when the problems started I would start by draining some out to get it back to the proper level before messing with the TV cable... Do i need to replace the gasket on the trans oil pan if i just leak some oil out? Well, now that you have to go all the way, when was the last time you changed the trans fluid? Might as well drop the pan, change the filter, and put new fluid in...
