Lason
Just got done doing my driverside subframe connector. Just wanted your thoughts on how it turned out. The welds were not my best by far as I was having issues with my welder which turned out to be a bad tip. Swapped it out and was messing with the tension on the wire a lil. Anyway I was really sweating these things but I THINK they turned out ok.
JMortensen
You need to sand down the ends of the tubing before you weld. I try to clean it back at least an inch around the area where you weld. It has a coating on it from the steel mill called scale and if you don't clean it your welds won't be nearly as good. Other than that it looks OK. I would have run the tube all the way up to the TC bucket rather than stopping 1/2 way from the floor to the TC area. Lason
yeah I know it wasnt near clean enough. That was my bad. usually Ill sand down the edges before I weld. I was going to to go all the way to the TC bracket but I only had this length of 2x3 and what started out as a "ill just cut this thing up and make a pattern for when I get more 2x3" turned into the real thing. I plan on a 12 point cage anyway so it will also tie the front frame into the rest of it using two bars through the firewall.
