SteelToad
I'd like to be able to do the work on my 280zx myself, but that just aint gonna happen. Knowing this, I've decided to have all of my body/engine work done by some local pro's that I trust. It's been a couple of months now, and the occasional trip to see the progress just makes the anticipation even worse. What is the trick to keeping your sanity while waiting for your baby to be finished. I've taken to ordering parts for the body guys, drawing up my new wiring harness, and drooling over LS2 ordering sites. Any other ideas for keeping me sane while I wait ??? veritech-z
how big of a nerd are you? If the answer is huge (like me), than go to www.nuklearpower.com, click on archives, and start at number one. If the answer is not so much, go to www.killsometime.com and play some free flash games. The trick is not to explode when you go to the shop after a month and nothing has been done since the last time you were there. We have many documented tales of a couple of months to do your job turned into over a year or more... Good Luck LARRY
DavyZ
You could take up smoking, but like COZY Z COLE says, it's a __tch to stop. Davy
SteelToad
The trick is not to explode when you go to the shop after a month and nothing has been done since the last time you were there. Funny, this just happened recently, went to go see what it looked like sandblasted, and when I got there everyone was out for lunch, and it looked like it hadn't been touched for quite a while. I went back a few days later and asked about it. They were waiting on a delayed shipment of sand, and he showed me my newly finished fenders that they had been working on in the meantime. Seeing the buckets molded in, signal light holes filled in, and all of the dings & dents smoothed out really took the frustration level back down
280zwitha383
Do you mind sharing how much the shop is charging for all of this?
SteelToad
Paying $40/Hr. Before some of you in big cities go nuts about the price, I'm in Delaware, and as much as it sux, a lot of things are cheaper. I know it's going to cost me more than doing it myself (obviously), but it's the time part that I dont have. Besides, I figure If I spend $15K I'll be getting exactly the car I want where I know the condition and construction of every part of it. For the same 15K I could buy a new Hundai or other similar gokart. If you look at the link in my sig, you'll see why I'm not likely to see another one just like it out on the street
flames_187
u can go to a rent a car center and rent the fastest car they have...do a couple of autocrosses, some burnouts, hit the drag strip and return the car with 2000 miles more and 50% less tread than what it started with...that should last a while...and when it ends...do it again!
