rztmartini
so i was trying to piece together a alky injection system cause i dont want to have to buy race gas, and the highest octane we get is 91 ... will a stock 280zx fuel pump be able to pump alcohol? also, will isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) work like methanol (methyl alcohol?) would alky/H2O mix be much better than straight H2O? my thinking is this: hobbs switch (pressure switch) set for like 14 psi to turn on the fuel pump (alky pump in this case) which will squirt into the intake piping just before the throttle body? Thanks for bearing with me, trying to learn about these systems!
510six
http://www.alkycontrol.com/ http://www.snowperformance.net/ http://www.coolingmist.com/ Ethanol/Methanol water injection systems are very common you will have to do a bit of research to find out what system will work best for your needs. rztmartini
i have seen all the systems out there, but i wanted to save some $ and peice together my own system. i am not going to be running anything crazy, just a little peace of mind when all i have to choose from is crappy gas octane. rztmartini
so does anyone know if the stock ZX fuel pump will work with alcohol?
Bernardd
I've seen a headlamp washer pump used for alk/water injection.
spork
A stock pump will work for a little bit, and then it will fail. The internals aren't correct for it. You also risk the alky leaking into places you really don't want it. You'd be best with a shureflow pump. A cheaper kit you may be interested in is http://www.alcohol-injection.com/ even if you don't buy thier complete baseline kit, you can purchase individual pieces from them. I'm using the progressive kit on my car (modified some)
