Guest Mike
I'd like to see different styles of carb hats that will fit a typical 4bbl carb. Can some of you folks post pics and links to where they can be purchased?

Guest Mike
What do you guys think of modifying an air cleaner like this? I could remove the filters and their tops, then adapt the hoses to each end.

Guest Mike
Yeah... those ram air boxes are nice. I guess I should have made it clear what I need. I want to run dual quad carbs. I need either two hats that will fit together or a single larger hat with dual carb bottom plate.

If so, the Extreme Velocity units are pretty nice (as posted above), but made for single carbs. The Performance Techniques hats are a bit cruder in finish, but are half the price. They come in a number of styles and look like they could be connected to one another. If you are not boosting, use the one you're thinking of or one of the factory units like above. Guest Mike
Thanks Davy. I won't be boosting... just a bit of nitrous:biggrin:
DavyZ
Thanks Davy. I won't be boosting... just a bit of nitrous:biggrin: Ah, then it comes down to asthetics, functionality, and price. It's all about what you want to accomplish! The smaller units reveal more engine, but I doubt they could compare to the larger units from RamAir Systems and the like. Still, the difference may be minimal in the greater scheme of things. Davy
Guest Mike
Thanks Davy. I think the smaller hats will be fine since there are two carbs. One large hat designed for two carbs and dual inlets would be okay too. The company that makes the Ram Air Boxes has an oval dual inlet model but I don't think they have a dual carb base for it. Guest Mike
So far I'm leaning toward the Extreme Velocity hats. They have a small diameter so they'll work with dual carbs. Plus the polished ones look very nice.
Guest Mike
This one is somewhat ugly but cheap. I wonder if there is enough material on it to clean it up and polish it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Blow-Through-Carb-Hat-Throttle-Body-Turbo-Bonnet-nice_W0QQitemZ160041347929QQihZ006QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

John Scott
K&N 97-99 Durango 5.2-5.9. I wonder how tall the hat is. I'm pretty sure the TB is the same diam as a Holley carb and filter RC 4680 has a 4" flange.
