grumpyvette
There's a post over on Stevesnovasite from a member saying that the 200cc aluminum SBC heads from Summit are Brodix IK200's. Looking at the parts and such, they are a dead match for the IK200's with the .575. lift valvetrain. They're available online from Summit for just under $900...which is about $150 less than the regular IK200's Summit lists. That is a downright steal if it's true! http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D162111&N=700+4294925232+4294838998+4294867081+400304+4294867079+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BRO%2D1021001&N=700+316186+115&autoview=sku notice the simularities Just thought it was somewhat interesting. I guess it's not really surprising since Jeg's has had Canfields as their heads for a while now. Comparing BRO-1021001 to SUM-162111, I found one difference: Outside Diameter of Outer Spring (in) Summit 1.430 in. Brodix 1.470 in Also, the Summit heads are using a standard intake valve with an ss exhaust instead of stainless in both holes
grumpyvette
hutchensce /updated info "I posted a couple of days ago that a guy over on Stevesnovasite had reported that the Summit aluminum heads that go for about $900 are actually Brodix IK200's. Well, he sent me some pics of these bad boys today and I'd say hes right. As you'll see, they have Summit markings on them instead of Brodix, but otherwise...they look like a VERY good deal at $900. I don't believe you can get them with the CNC chambers though. The CNC'd bowls and intake runners look very nice though. Just imagine what a little cleanup could do for these! For your viewing pleasure: Cheers!"
Sven
This has been fairly common in the Ford world too. You'd be surprised if you learned how many of the aftermarket SBF aluminum heads were made by one manufacturer. Most customers spec their own details, like port and chamber cc, but the R&D and dyno work is done there. There are some brands that are essentially identical. jakeshoe
Grumpy, I believe you can get the IK's with CNC chamber option, I dunno about the Summit version, but the Brodix I am almost certain. The IK is the low budget Brodix head that works good but is very option limited. IIRC they only come in 2 runner sizes, basically 2 configurations and 4 seperate heads with the CNC chamber option. I'm going off memory from a combo about a year ago but can check my notes. The Brodix RaceRites have many more options.
grumpyvette
"The Brodix RaceRites have many more options." very true! but not at the $900 price range for an assembled head the price jumps about $400 higher http://www.brodix.com/heads/raceritesb.html http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category2_10001_10002_26145_-
