Is my tranny level still ok?

I backed the car up some ramps to put teflon tape on the drain plug, and reverse light switch plug of my tranny. I pulled the plugs out stuffed a rag in the hole, then reinstalled the plug. After I was done I was going to fill the tranny back up, but when I took the filler plug out fluid was still comming out? Did I have too much fluid to start with, or was it because I backed the car up the ramps.
