MY77Z
hi guys i have a question since im installin a 302 on my 77 280Z, was thinkin about this..... is it possible to install side exhaust on the 302/280Z...??? like the ones on a FACTORY FIVE MK3 ROADSTER ???? the Z will look great with side pipes i think..... http://parts.factoryfive.com/newcatalog/engineex/sidepipe.htm this is the link for the side pipe... your opinions/comments are needed here thanks Ali
naviathan
I think side pipes would be awesome, but check your state laws first. NC doesn't have all the restrictions most states do, but they do have a clause that says only vehicles with side pipes as a factory option are allowed to have them. Also those particular pipes look like they require either a special adapter or header to install them properly and the Z's sometimes have a hard time with certain headers. EDIT: Never mind, I see you're in kuwait. My bad.
MY77Z
well i live in kuwait, so dont worry about restrictions on the same factory five site, they sell the adapters that fit between the headers and the side pipes, adapters fit on stock/ shorty 302 header. naviathan
Cool, I think the stock shorties fit well with the Z so that might be a great option for side pipes. I say try it! Looks like fun.
MY77Z
i think im gonna try it....first i have to drop the engine into my Z, wire it and fire it for the first time, then ill start my side pipe small project thanks
MY77Z
well after a brief search, i think the dynomax 52'' side pipes kit sold by summit is a good deal, 300 bucks is fair enough. what do you guys think ?
naviathan
Sounds like a decent deal. I doubt you'll find it much cheaper unless you go eBay.
gvincent
There is a bunch of threads on side pipes already in the Exhaust section. I am going this route but most guys who bought these side pipes found out they are way too restrictive. The inner diameter of the internal pipe is way too small. Cozy Cole did a big write-up on his and Do a search and check these threads out. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=90639&highlight=side+exhaust+install http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=110202&highlight=Patriot+side+pipes http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=110321&highlight=Patriot+side+pipes http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115813&highlight=Patriot+side+pipes I am going to go the same route as rytherwr/Wayne and have them made from glasspacks. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116374 Greg

jrz
I've had sidepipes on my Z for quite a while now. I don't have big hp but it looks and sound good. only downside is that you and your passenger might get your cavs scorched while getting out of the car( every pass I had has gotten burnt but me even though I told them to be careful haha). I used to have white pipes with sheilds but didn't look nearly as cool as the crome ones. Good luck
