Pics Of my Zcar...

Could I ask how much the paint was 280z28?

The body was in pretty good condition compared to others its age, but there was some minor hail damage, and the metal behind the rear wheels had to be cut out and new panels welded in. Then there was removing the side markers, and fixing some minor hail damage. Overall it came to around $5500 IIRC, but it's not completely finished. We still have to paint the engine bay when my motor comes out next year and finish the interior. Insurance helped out pretty good because I had it under an antique car policy when the hail hit us in March '04.

Mine is actually dupont And it was out of the Dodge colors catelog. But your pics show exactly how mine looks in daylight! I've got about $3000 in body, paint, and a bunch of fabrication work, plus a set of Jamie's aluminum five lug hubs. I came out on the cheap end of things, but this was Jamie's first car ever to paint. He did a kickass job in my opinion!

Both turned out great! But I was actually wondering how much the actual paint costs. Im hopefully painting my car in spring and have been looking for the right gray, I had seen some new Dodge pickups with grays similar to yours that I liked. I dont know how to paint and dont have painting equipment so Im probably taking it to Maaco for them to spray it. Would this kind of paint be available there or would you have to buy it and give them the paint?

Maaco has access to the same catalogs and products as most shops... I'd caution against maaco, only because they charge for everything ala-cart. You want them to fix a small door ding? That's an extra $75 per ding. You want them to remove the trim? That's extra. You want them to paint the door/trunk/underhood jambs? That'll cost you bigtime. My wife fell for it when she got our youngest stepson's first honda painted and she walked out with a $900 bill and a mess for a car... Of course my youngest thought it looked cool, but hey what do I know? :lmao:

Funny thing is, as good as this car looks as it sits in these pics, it's getting ready to get a huge transformation... I've got a Gnose on the way to add to the mix... And that'll compete a 10 year dream for this project... It's a showcars piece, so my hopes aren't too high, but hey atleast some scumbag (Les Heath comes to mind) won't get the chance to steal this one, off the car anyway! :2thumbs:
