DavyZ
.... What are y'all cooking? Mmmm, looks tasty. Wifey is cookin' southern right now...Ham cooked in Cherry Coke and something called "sinful potatoes." I would call this "white trash cooking," but it comes from Nigella Lawson's cookbook, so I'm not sure the British would call it that. Should be awesome when it's done! No pictures, but it'll be oh so good!!! Davy

DavyZ
sounds good Davy!!! Yep!! I just found out that the 'sinful potatoes' are from a Tennissee cookbook, not the Brit book. Still, it all rolls in together as a primal taste explosion of culinary ecstasy! In other words,"I like it." I'm sure you know good cooking from your part of the country Davy

Ledphoot
GOOD OLD NC SOUTHERN HOLIDAY HERE!! Smoked ham slow roasted on the grill on applewood coals injected with "secret" brine. Deep fried Cajun style Turkey. Mashed potatoes and giblet gravy. German "twice baked" potato salad. Fried creamed corn. Yeast rolls. Cranberry sauce. Monterey Jack mac-n-cheese, green bean casserole, lima beans. Sweet potato pie, chocolate pie, banana pudding. Iced tea, Dr Pepper and then around 4 in the afternoon I'll break out the Jagermeister and Killians red. I've got about 2 more hours of cooking ( it is 1 am EST now) on the ham before I take it off the grill and wrap it tight in foil to "sweat". I'll do the turkey just before everyone arrives and my wife and I have cooked or prepared to be cooked everything else today!!! Next year were goint to KEY WEST OR VEGAS!!! jbk240z
I am smoking a prime rib roast and smoking chicken wings. The wife and my mom are doing the sides, dirty rice dressing, potatoe salad, assorted veggies, relish tray, rediculous amounts of baked goods, stuffing, shrimp/okra gumbo, jalapeno poppers, shrimp cocktail, and lots of stuff I am forgetting. I think we could feed the neighborhood! BURP!!
