Isn't the offset waay too off? you'll increase the track by 3" not to mention greatly increase steering and wheel bearing loads. Is there a way to rectify this?

Nope, their offset is +40, not -40. Simple wheel spacer would push them out to the owners desired location. (+) offset was more typical of FWD (today it's typical of more than just FWD) which is easier to remember...slides on further over hub, you see their calipers right up tight to outer edge of wheel etc.....we prefer them at ~0 overall offset (relative to OEM) so use 5lug hubs/spacers etc to push them out and return to OEM track width if not greater (hopefully greater icon_biggrin.gif ).

Sounds like Ross knows what he's talking about. We want to shoot for 0 offset right? I may be getting a set of new wheels this month but am not sure how to go about planning all this stuff.

I know the wheel offsetsfor some, but will have to go 5-lug (hence the adapter I emailed you about).

17 inch Impuls for $1000

sizes unknown

17 inch Contras for $600

F・7Jx17 +27

R・8Jx17 +33

5H/114.3

17 inch Shuteruns??? for $400

F・7Jx17 +27

R・8Jx17 +35

5H/114.3

Say for the bottom two wheels of +27 and +35, what formula would I use to get 0 offset? I know rim width and offset, all I have to do is determine the thickness for the adapters???

Anything else I have to take into account? I suppose this will mess up my 4x4 fronts since those are based on a 4lug spacer...

Help!

Owen

Looks like I had things confused there...

Check out this site, its Non Fujita's store in Torrance (owner of the decked out purple S14 240SX in the Fast and the Furious... SWEEET car!)

http://www.wheelchoice.com

They've got some really cool stuff, and a lot of hard to find Japanese rims.

Hey Owen,

To convert millimeters to inches you can use the nifty tool at z design studio

Your +27 offset equals 1 1/16 inch or 1.06 inches to get 0 offset

Your +35 offset equals 1 3/8 inch or 1.38 inches to get 0 offset

If you want 0 offset and wheel is +27 then you need a 27mm thick adaptor (some Z's are 0 offset and some are +10, seen fuzzy info on which ones change). I'm planning to make 4 to 5lug bolt on adaptors this spring (not even starting until all CV and rear disk brackets are sent out!). I'll plan to make them to a suitable thickness so you don't need to use any other spacer except the bolt on adaptor for most applications (ie. unflared Z, likely with coilovers, will poll for feedback when production time nears).

Owen, up front you'll need thicker rotor spacers to run with a 5lug hub if you keep your toyota brake setup (vented I assume)(5lug hubs have positive offset of about 20mm built in).

watanabe rs8;s??? oh dear me they are the shiznit, 15x11 with a 0 offset, oh man, and i think you can put the flush covers on the rims that they used for aerodynamics, man you could smuggle a whole lot of yay yo in them thangs man.

OOOh, the last page shows Work Meisters! That was my first choice but at $800 per wheel new, I couldn't justify it. Oh, did I mention that the prices I listed above were for a set of 4 including tires?

Those Longchamps look mighty good too!

Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the info.

"Your +27 offset equals 1 1/16 inch or 1.06 inches to get 0 offset

Your +35 offset equals 1 3/8 inch or 1.38 inches to get 0 offset"

When you say xxx inches to get zero offset, is that the size spacer I need?

Thanks,

Owen

Yes Owen, that is the width of spacer needed to get back to zero offset. IMHO the best looking rims for the Z are the RS Watanabes in either gunmetal or black. I think they're perfect for the car, and its a shame than mine are only 6.5" wide... oh well

I'm sure you could call them and have them get almost any kind of rim for you... Just be careful, I hear Non can be a WheelNazi!

Oh, and one more site for good rimmage is www.aktracing.com, also in Torrance. Their selection borders on ricey, but they've got a couple nice rims. If you're serious about buying from them, I can try to get you a discount as I know someone who works there...
