Guest Stony82ZX
I am very interested in making my 82 S130 into a biodiesel using an LD28 from a first gen Maxima. I am just wondering if anyone knows how rare they are, the best way to aquire one and if there is an existing bio conversion kit for that engine. This conversion might sound kinda lame to some but I want to do something original to it (or rare at least) since I've never seen a biodiesel Z. I already have a fast car that my parents bought for me and my Mom says she'll trade me the 300 for the 280 if I convert it to bio with my own money. Thx in advance -Tony
Ledphoot
Make sure you convert to a 4:11 rear as well or it won't get out of its own way....
frank280zx
why not use a Mercedes 300TD engine.. they are more widely available and have 'some' go
OlderThanMe
I have thought about this...you can even bolt a stock L28ET turbo and exhaust manifold on there and push about 5 pounds of boost to help with the black smoke. There is a biodiesel book that has a biodiesel Z on the front and it could 120...pretty cool I'v heard of a Z running diesel in NY as an autocross car...great low end torque. Guest VaGuS510
You are in luck, their is a diesel Maxima at the pick-n-pull down in Newark, CA. http://www.picknpull.com/Thecompany/Thecompany.htm It looked to be complete, nothing even seemed to be removed. Transmission was also there. It is probably a 2 hours from you. I was just their today looking for a T-5, I checked every picknpull around and came up empty handed. The San Jose south pick-n-pull even had the right year 280zx turbo but the engine and tranny were gone. Good luck with your project.
