Still having brake problems!!!!!

I still haven't figured out the braking problem on my 77Z. I put a new brake master cylinder and new 2+2(79-81)vacuum booster. This is the exact same set up I had before. I can't get the brakes to bleed at all. I've bench bled the Master Cylinder and still no luck. I know have absolutely no brakes. Tonight I noticed that the rear chamber is not pushing out fluid with the pedel in engaged. I assumed the rod wasn't log enough to push the rear cylinder, so I extended it from the brake pedal as far as I could. Still got the same results. What am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

Had this problem on a 620 pickup that I switched the vaccum booster and master clyinder. If I remember correctly I got a long shouldered grade 8 bolt and cut the threads off and trial fitted it slowly until I got the right length. I suspect you may need a long shaft rather than a short shaft. It seems there is a critical length to find and 1/4 inch difference is too much. be careful pushing that brake pedal in finding your correct adjusting length

Yes, the rod should have a slight clearance to the master cyl piston, with the brake pedal out, not depressed. Forget what the clearance should be, measured at the pedal foot pad. Around 10 mm should be ok, doesn't need much. You can feel this clearance as free play by gently pushing the pedal in with your hand until the rod make contact with the piston.

Other than that, it could be that the bleeding process is incorrect. Z's can be a real bitch to bleed.
