MY77Z
hi guys, well i have a question about coilovers, i saw them on modern-motorsport, i like the idea of having coilovers on my 500Z, my questions are: 1- will i have more wheel clearence with coilovers?? 2- my car is a street/strip car, and for straight line racing only and drag racin at the track, no autocrossing no road racing, so what spring rates do i need to get the best weight transfer? thanks

slownrusty
1- will i have more wheel clearence with coilovers?? 2- my car is a street/strip car, and for straight line racing only and drag racin at the track, no autocrossing no road racing, so what spring rates do i need to get the best weight transfer? thanks 1 - No..well a little more onlt due to the fact that the lower collar on a coilover is not as wide in diameter as the stock lower spring perch. 2- If the roads in Kuwait are perfect (which I am betting they are)...I would go to 225# rear and 200# front..if you don't like that, you can experiment with different springs as for coilovers they are tyically all standard 2.5" diameter springs in 8" and 10" lengths and cost between $50-$75 each. Hope that help! Yasin
MY77Z
thanks Yasin, well the roads are more than good here in kuwait depending on where you are, will the 225 rear, 200 front be a good choise for the street and most importantly the track?? i've never had coilovers on any of my cars, thats why im asking, i already have lowering springs, and was thinkin about getting the tocikos HP (blue ones) shocks....now im hesitating between shocks/springs and coilovers setup???!!!! johnc
There's a ton of information on this site about coil overs. Take some time, search, and do a lot of reading.
