Guest Anonymous
I have a LT1 v8 78 280 and would like to make it easier to steer at low speeds. ( 245's & smaller steering wheel! ) Would it be better to put some kind of gear quickener or a power rack off a ZX or????
Tim240z
JW, I doubt whether you are going to get much response in this section. You may want to consider reposting this in the Technical section, maybe in the Misc. Tech. or Brakes, wheels... sections. Tim
blueovalz
JW, A "steering quickener" indicates to me you want to decrease the ratio of steering. If you do this, yes the wheels will turn at a faster rate, but the effort to turn the wheels will be greater (similar to the effect of going to a smaller diameter steering wheel). Going back to a larger diameter wheel will help some. Personally, the power assist rack (Ford Mustang/T-bird) that I installed is great in slalom, and slow street driving, but almost too effortless at highway speeds. Guest Anonymous
Hay Blueovalz THANKS! You're right after I thought about it, the quikener was not the way to go. COULD YOU TELL ME MORE ON YOUR POWER RACK!!! What do you mean too effortless on the hwy.?? WHAT was the ups & downs??? Someone else said 95 stang racks worked (what mods do you need.. if that's what you used )?? GOT PICTURES? What pump did you use??? I know that's alot of questions, but not alot of people seem to have tried this, and I'm ALL SHOW & NO GO (ex painter ) THANKS AGAIN < I logon pm west coast time >
