GabeD1
The engine is a stock L24. This thing fell out while I was adjusting the valve lash. What is it and does the hole go on the top or the bottom? I am guessing that it is some kind of oil filter. Here are the pics:
katman
Dude, that's the end of your cam spray bar. Time for a new one. Do not run motor until you replace it.
GabeD1
ah crap, well that explains the wear on 11 and 12, the previous owner must have run it like this for a while. it was sitting like the first pic when i pulled the vave cover off. thanks for clearing that up. maybe this is a good time to swap in a bigger cam. bubbleguinea
i found little tid-bits like that too in the exact same place when i first got my car... one was a small bolt with some kind of hard coating on it.... it was the baffle plate screw on the valve cover

GabeD1
Thanks, I think I'll try that, or maybe some JBweld to hold it in there.
gjc5500
if you jbweld it, make sure you dont get any in the oil holes.
