fl327
hey is this normal, im runing the toyota upgrade(the simplest one) and upgraded mc, finished it a little while ago and went to drive it around the block, and i find that the pedal is rock hard, it does pick up stronger and higher, but i have to push it really hard to stop, people tell me who ive asked in person that this is ideal and now i can heel toe better now, can i adjust this, i did check for vacum, the vacum line is good, maybe when i installed it i should have used gasket sealer or something in its connection to the booster? could that be a leak, man im puzzled. Guest jwelch
Sounds like the same problem I had when upgrading to the 2+2 MC and Booster. I'm not running the Toyota upgrade, just stock. I had to adjust the plunger rod under the dash. How far did you drive it? I found that the farther I drove (more vacuum built up) the harder the pedal got. Mine actually locked up on the freeway by themselves. Was quit scary especially the fire that came after burning the rubber boots. I would re-adjust the plunger. But definitely ask for more input. I would try driving it for a while to see if the pedal gets harder. Hope this helps a little.
johnc
A very hard pedal makes brake modulation difficult. As I posted earlier in another thread you might try removing the porportioning valve in the back and replace it with a short length of braided brake line. And then test it very carefully. Dan Baldwin
15% greater MC piston area => 15% greater pedal effor required to generate a given level of brake line pressure, and 15% less pedal travel. That is the law. I've got the same MC, and a '73+ Z master vac. Thinking of trying to install a ZX mastervac to reduce pedal effort. The firewall, she do flex under high pedal force.
