Racin_Jason
So I am about to put my dash back into the car with some outsourced guages. I'd like to clarify they work now if possible. Whats the easiest way to test them out of the car? I hope I got the needle pointers put back on the speedo and tach correctly. I wouldn't want to have to pull this dash again! jbk240z
Maybe you can just set the dash temporarily in place. Then plug in the connectors, add temporary grounds where needed. Good luck.
Racin_Jason
Unfortunately its not that easy. The car is apart and does not run. I dont even have a battery for it yet. Thanks for the idea though. Would be the way to do it on a running car. Jason
Pop N Wood
The speedo you could test by hooking the speedo cable to a power drill. The tach could be tested by hooking it to another running car. A 280 tach should work with just about any car.
DCZ
The oil pressure, water temperature and fuel level guages are basically ohm meters. Get a variable resistor (potentiometer) and connect that between ground and the sender input on the guage. Figure out which wires on the guage are +12V and Ground and hook them up. Resistor values of the various senders should be somewhere in the FSM so you should be able to tell how well the guages are calibrated. If you ground the sender input instead of using a resistor, most if not all of these guages should go full scale. *Disclaimer* I have not done this but that is how I would approach it.
