Guest Aaron
Ok, I am always looking for new ideas, and I was looking a couple weeks ago for rear disk brake ideas. My project car is a 82 ZXT, so there are very few available upgrades for the rear. I stumbled accross this page . This guy was putting disks on the rear of a Toyota 4x4. His final design uses a 4x4 Chevy front Rotor 1" thick, and a Caddy/Olds/Buick rear caliper. I have not been able to confirm the diameter of this rotor, but I imagine it is at least 11". We would not use this particular rotor, but we would use something similar. A bracket would have to be fabbed for to hold the caliper, and in the end may not work at all. I thought I would put that information out and see what you guys think. Maybe someone could keep an eye out for those calipers in the JY and see what the availablity is, and see just how big they are.
260DET
PBR make some rear calipers with an integral handbrake for the US market. I have wondered why they are not apparently used for DIY conversions there. Don't know about the vehicles you mention, but my incomplete list mentions Corvettes, Camaros and Firebirds. The only problem I've had with PBRs is stripping the bleeder thread in the aluminium body. But they are a lot simpler and easier to re-kit than the Nissan ones, and are light.
