Sparky Posted April 9, 2002 Share Posted April 9, 2002 Ive never heard anything bad about putting teflon tape on brake fittings. but i wanted to make sure while my brakes are apart..and before i start putting my brake system together. ya see...i dont want them to leak...and i sure dont want to pull the system apart again...and im all for overkill and double triple makin sure!lol so....is it ok to use teflon tape on brake fittings? thanks in advance! All the brake fittings are compression type fittings and should not have teflon tape used on them, if they leak there is something wrong with the fitting and it should be replaced. The reason not to use teflon tape on your brake system is that the tape shreds on the ends when you tear it and apply it to the threads, those torn pieces can (and after time will) come off and start to float around in your brake system potentialy causing problems.
