Rockr69
Hello everyone. I've got a message to the new z owner who has purchased a Z that has been sitting for awhile, especially the classics(mine is 76 280)! If it runs at all, check the fuel tank, if it doesn't run, check the fuel tank. Take it from me. I have spent the better part of a month chasing down what I thought were other problems causing my car to run like crap and it turned out to bet the fuel tank was full of crud and was clogging the the inlet tube screen and inlet filter of the pump. To keep from going crazy just start with the tank and go from there. You'll find that by starting there you'll save yourself a lot of frustration. Bye! OlderThanMe
HAHA...lol I did the same thing...lol just take a bicycle shifter cable and remove the steel braided cable from it and cram it down the output tube until you knock the screen off... Then run at least two fuel filters with one before your electronic fuel pump...
Rockr69
Olderthanme speaks truth about the two filters. I have one in my fuel feed line that moved to the drain hole and a cleanable one in the stock location under the hood. These old Zs fuel pressure don't have the poop to blow one of those chrome filters you can take apart and clean. My 76 280 now runs like a champ! I can see now I need more power! Anyone got about 20,000 grand they'd be willing let me have!..........?
