  1. did you get that blue 300z?

  2. the engine in an 84 Marquis essentially is a detuned H.O. They do have roller cams and pretty good heads.
  3. Sorry about posting in the wrong forum, my bad. I was asking for information though. I'll remember to post in parts wanted next time I need a part.
  4. Hey all. My driver front hub is cratered. The outside bearing siezed, spun the race and subsequently ruined the hub. My car is a 76 280z. Does any one know where to get another or does anyone have a spare they would sell me? I found a local import repair shop that could order one of 6 they found, but it's a 100 bucks after shipping and tax with no gaurantee of quality prior to shipping. Can anyone help? Dan
  5. no title! 75-78 grille and turn sigs, 5-spd trans, this car while maybe the shell is a 69, is not worth anything without a proper title. Unless anyone sho buys it is either from Alabama or wants to move there to own it. Or if you want to build a race car. NOT WORTH IT!
  6. No Ryan I don't have any advice on dash removal, however I think your car has the one of the two electronic ignitions in it and you might be having a problem there. Years ago my uncle had an Imperial with the same problem and we swapped out the ignition "module" in it and boom! she fired right up. Hope this can help and good luck. I would start there and then the ignition switch if the dizzy checks out. Several minutes later.....Upon re-reading your original post I'm convinced you have distributor problems. Definitely start there.GL
  7. Still laughing my a** off at that one
  8. Hey gang I just found a Z31 sitting in the weeds. Good deal or no? thanks
  9. I own a 76 s30 but am looking to pickup a z31 with bad engine (timing belt I think...boo-hoo) and slight side damage for 400 bucksa and I just happen to have a friend who has a VG30E that I know runs strong. I am very excited. The S30 is my favorite car I've ever owned, but it is a beast and I'm looking for something a little more civilized. Will keep you posted.
  10. oops! Or whatever the winning bid is:redface:

  13. ziggy408, you are correct I was running lean after I installed drain plug feed line, but after 3 filters worth of junk I switched back to stock fuel pipe and all is now good. Thanks, Dan
  14. figured out problem, junk in tank. I did the drain hole/ feed line conversion, purrs like kitten. Later!
  15. Grumpyvette would you be willing to run for President? I'd vote for you!
  16. the only pinks episode to watch are the all out ones period
  17. Does anyone know if a 5 speed from an 83 maxima will fit in a 76 z without any mods? Thanks, Rockr69
  18. you can connect a vacume hose to it and suck on it. if it will hold vacume against your tounge cahnces are it's good. if you remove the cover to your AFM, with the key on you can manually move the airflap counterweight and hear if your pump is working. I would bet it's not flooding but more than likely starving and if it is you must check the condition of the fuel tank. The fuel inlet pipe to the pump has a very fine brass screen at the bottom of it and will clog easily with varnish or rust or sealer if anyone before you has reconditioned it. If this is the case it is very easy to move your feed line to the drain plug hole by draining the tank, drilling out the hole with a 7/16 bit, using a 1/4 " NP tap to tap the hole and use a brass 90 degree elbow with barbed nipple, about 12" of regular fuel line and an inline fuel filter(clear so you can see the crap) before the pump. If all this is not what your up against , good luck with your ride cuz that's about all I can figure. Enjoy The ride!
  19. Olderthanme speaks truth about the two filters. I have one in my fuel feed line that moved to the drain hole and a cleanable one in the stock location under the hood. These old Zs fuel pressure don't have the poop to blow one of those chrome filters you can take apart and clean. My 76 280 now runs like a champ! I can see now I need more power! Anyone got about 20,000 grand they'd be willing let me have!..........?
  20. Hello everyone. I've got a message to the new z owner who has purchased a Z that has been sitting for awhile, especially the classics(mine is 76 280)! If it runs at all, check the fuel tank, if it doesn't run, check the fuel tank. Take it from me. I have spent the better part of a month chasing down what I thought were other problems causing my car to run like crap and it turned out to bet the fuel tank was full of crud and was clogging the the inlet tube screen and inlet filter of the pump. To keep from going crazy just start with the tank and go from there. You'll find that by starting there you'll save yourself a lot of frustration. Bye!
  21. I have a 1976 280z that I have recently done an alternator upgrade to internal regulator. Worked great for few days. Then yesterday battery went dead and had to get jumped and that's when I noticed the charge light was not lit when I turned the key on. From what I understand the the field post needs voltage that goes through the charge light to excite alternator into charging. What would cause light not to be lit when car is not running but with key on?
