clint78z
I have done quite a few things over the years but I swear to god sometimes you just can't win. I had some toyota calipers and a 15/16" master cylinder upgrade. Damned thing wouldn't bleed and proportioning seemed crappy. So I yanked off the toyota calipers and slapped the old ones back on. They had been sitting and the seal blew out, so then I fix that. Bleed with Mighty Vac still can't get it to work. So now I am going back to old master cylinder, but I had to cut the 2 studs for the 15/16" master cylinder. Now I have to find a friggn vacuum booster. For such a simple system it has been plagued with problems. Next year I will do a proper brake upgrade.
Guest Anonymous
When working on any thing mechanical about any thing can go wrong and when working on any thing hydraulic and mechanical about everything can go wrong. Just hang in there, trial and error will get your binders clamping
260DET
Fitting a 15/16 master cyl should not cause your bleeding problems, unless there is a fault with it, such as air getting past the seals. There should be heaps of info in the archives on bleeding, it seems to be a common problem.
clint78z
I have probably done about 30+ brake systems, and the system itself is simple just very pissy. Something that has been cursed by the car gods !!
Modern Motorsports Ltd
Clint, did you bench bleed the MC? Tap all calipers/items tinkered with with a rubber mallet to help release air bubbles? In the last 5 yrs all I've used to bleed brakes has been the one way valved bleeder screws, a rubber hammer and my foot. Maybe I've just been lucky but I don't yet buy into the various 'bleeding' optimizers available. Just my bleeder screws. Sorry we missed each other when you were in town...I'd hoped we'd hook up but figured you'd be busy with the marathon and other distractions
clint78z
I bench bled the master cylinder, first then did the back and the front. The mighty vac is handy for starting out because it pull the fluid though. I'll store the rubber hammer idea in the tickle trunk, I have used a pressurized bleeder ball on finiky systems before. Looking back on it using Toy calipers on a solid rotor wasn't the smartest move, going to save my $$ for proper package and proportioning valve. I had a great weekend in Vancouver, and stayed right by Kitzlano beach. I got hit by a cyclist at 28km and sprained my ankle, and limped in to a 4:10 time. I was on pace to a 3:30 bummer, oh yeah it hailed on me. Nothing like a 4 girl pajama party to lift ones spirit's after
