Guest kc6wfs
Well it finally happened.. My booster died Tues on the way to work. After a few calls I found a place that rebuilds them here in the Los Angeles. $104.00.. Not bad I think!! Here is the link to the shop. http://www.powerbrakeexchange.com/index.html They had one in stock and wants a core. I know what I'm doing Sat morning... I'll tell ya that was a scary ride home in rush hour traffic with messed up brakes!!! Thanks. Dave
Mike C
I tried to find out what year your car was on your page but never saw it. My booster crapped out last year. First thing I did was buy a used one on Hybrid Z. It was for a '71. That was when I learned that even though 71 and 72 both had the little booster, the 72 had the larger pushrod but clevis with smaller pin. I finally ended up switching to the larger booster by redrilling the firewall. If you have a '72 that's what I would recommend. I found one rebuilt for $80 + core at a local parts store. Guest kc6wfs
Hi Mike. Mine is a 73.. The booster died on me several years ago and I swaped one with a 77 280z I think. But now it has died... Did the 73's have the larger booster vs 70-72?? $80.00 sounds like a better deal but that place was the only one i could find one on short notice. Thanks. Guest bang847
also dave your booster is not too hard to find in the JY... mines was super hard to find. infact i never found it! The 70's booster was super small and the mounting bolts are in a square pattern whist all the newer z's has a rectangular one.. there are a few 73's in JY... but it is up to you... but definetly give that place a call... their specialty is heavy wheel stuff but like i said they are a bendix dealer. they used to have a brance down the street from my place but now they are only in downtown..
