driftz240
I am running an L28ET in my 240z drift car, i have been reving to 7300rpm, at a drift comp in indy saterday i lost my #3 cyl, i thought i blew a hole in a piston or lost some rings, so i packed it up, brought it home, and before i got involved in pulling the engine i decided to check the calve springs and rockers, well i threw a rocker off the intake side, fortunatly i found all the pieces and there was no damage that i can see, i reinstalled the rocker and adjusted the valves, runs good. My question is, how high can i rev a L28ET before i start bouncing rockers off. and is there anything i can do to insure this doesnt happen again? naviathan
Stiffer springs I would think could solve that problem. More than likely the stock springs aren't strong enough to return as quickly as the cam lobe passes causing the rocker to go free at certain points in the valve movement which is where it most likely came loose. 76s30
Had the same thing happen on my l20 but it just poped off it didn't shatter. I only discovered this after I pulled the engine to install the 2.8. I felt like such and idiot for not checking under the valve cover sooner. then I relized it was soooo slow with the 2.0 liter.
