External to internal voltage regulator swap


280Z Turbo

I recently swapped over to a Z31 alternator. My first one died suddenly, so I'm wondering if I have the wiring wrong. My Charge light is on constantly, but my voltage is steady.

 

I used these instructions:

Bump!

 

Quick question, it says the 78 alternator is 60amp, ZX alternator is 70amps but is it (78's) internally regulated? It appears the 78 and on alternators all work for this swap?

 

Is there any benefit to keep the 81 turbo alternator on my turbo motor on my 78 Z or should I just swap it out for the one originally on my 78?
