amorfin
I'm getting together what I will use on my RB26 swap, but I'm still not sure as to which ECU or managing system to use. As I was searching I found in Tomei's page that they sell an ECU together with poncam ready for 500ps, which will take me exactly to the power where I want to stay at. But they don't really specify if it just needs to be plugged and ready to use (along with 555 injectors and upgraded turbos) or if tuning is required. A plug and play ECU for about 500hp would be nice, since I have no experience in tuning. But I didn't find any posts about it. Has anybody used it or know any more info about it? Thanks for your time, ANGEL
ZDrifter
In a perfect world, if you have everything that the ECU is tuned for on your motor then you get the ECU plug it in and go. But you need to have everything exactly what its tuned for or else you wont get the most out of it. I dont know how much $$ they are asking for that ECU but if you plan on changing your car, then you have to get a different chip in the ECU or have it reflashed. I went standalone for this reason, I can change parts on my car then plug my laptop in and adjust whats necessary. Also changes can be made for weather conditions aswell. Do plenty of research on what you want to do and how you want to do it. Look at other companies out there and see whats for you.
Careless
If it's the Tomei Reytec ECU, then I believe it is programmable, and not a reflash. I saw a Reytec on E-bay going for 800, which is cheap for just about any Tomei product that exceeds the size of your fist. They have very good products. amorfin
Seems like it is not a reflashable version, but instead ready to use, with fuel maps and things like that. And it is called Tomei ECU. What I'm not sure is if it will have tuning for higher octane rating (live in California and would like to keep it at 91). Here are links to it, maybe you can read them and let me know what you think. http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogue/efr_set-from_top-menu/efr_index-reytec.html http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/_2003web-catalogue/efr_set-from_top-menu/efr_index-reytec.html
