typhoone
found this online "For this one, all you need is a car, a spark plug, ignition wire and a switch. Install the spark plug into the last four or five inches of the tail pipe by drilling a hole that the plug can screw into easily. Attach the wire (this is regular insulated wire) to one side of the switch and to the spark plug. The other side of the switch is attached to the positive terminal on the battery. With the car running, simply hit the switch and watch the flames fly!!! Again be careful that no one is behind you! I have seen some of these flames go 20 feet!!!" just wondering, how dangerous is this to the car? it would be kind of interesting to watch, but somehow i have a feeling that it has the ability to end very badly. TONY C
when I was a kid with my first car I did this. made everything myself. it was very cool and I used it alot. never had any problems but maybe if your car was not in the best tune with no or very little muffler it could maybe burn a valve or something? my car was all jacked up {that was the trend then} and 1 time this car was riding my butt. every time I changed lanes he would change and ride me again. Like you say the flames would shoot 10 or more feet out the pipe. So the next light I stopped at, this guy was all up in my a** so I reved it up real good so to dump alot of raw gas in the pipe and hit the switch. a couple times. Can't remember what kind of car he had but it was a plastic bumper car. when I pulled away I looked in the rear view. his car was solid smoking black soot. He didn't ride so close after that. in fact, I never seen the car move away from the light. I thought it was funny then. peace

jknc90
HAHA It would keep you from getting rear ended which unfortunately happen to one of my z's recently Anyway, Is there any way that this would harm the car?
typhoone
that is what i was worried about. the only thing i could think of is the spark following the gas back to the motor, but i'm no mechanic so i don't know if that could actully happen or not. mason4300
TONY C, you are my hero. typhoone, I also share your sentiments. I've always figured there would be some catch in doing a do-it-yourself homemade exhaust flame thrower.
lifegrddude
You can have cylinder wash happen from the overloading of fuel. Many of the guys who go to the shows and use their flame thrower kits change their oil right after the show.
