Guest zDriftKing619
I installed new wires, plugs and a few hoses but the car still wont start. It cranks and turns over but wont idle. Maybe its not getting enough fuel. I noticed that the intake manifold looks like it needs a new gasket and the distributer is loose so the timing is off. Where should I start? I'm really close to giving up and parting the car out to make room for an engine swap.... Suggestions???
gjc5500
1. check for spark 2. check for fuel pull a plug and crank it w/o the coil having power. if u smell gas, you have fuel.
JSM
Did it run better b4 you did this work? Did you happen to cross spark plug wires? You need to really get the distributor tightened down and set. That will definitely affect your idle if it is off.
Guest zDriftKing619
Should I tighten the distributer down at top dead center? I bought the car not running and just started replacing items. I was also told the car wont start with a bad altenator. Is this true?
JSM
Check out this about timing: http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/1/349436/349436#msg-349436 I'm not 100% about the bad alternator but if your getting spark and fuel the bad alt should only impact the charge of the batt. As long as your batt is 100% charge you should be okay for a little bit.
