Spring rates and shocks

Someone reported that they obtained a full set of Suspension Techniques (?) lowering springs from Summitt 1-800-230-3030 for $130.00(?). Which makes a great buy and free shipping. If coilovers are out then it is lowering springs (1 1/2 inch) with a heavier rate than stock. KYB GR2 struts go good with this combination at $49.95 a piece.

Ok, I have a 71 240z with a SBC 400 with an aluminum intake, and aluminum heads. the car also has a body kit (big steel fender flares).

right now it has the stock spring and struts, and it needs help. I have bottoming out issues on the front. My question is ..... what springs, brand and spring rates do i need to fix this, and to ballence out the front and rear. and what shocks to use with the springs. now, I want to stay away from coil overs for reasons haveing to do with money, and I dont want a total rock, I would like it to be more to the streatable with good handeling.

what do you guys think

thanks my race updates

Scott,,, Ebay has a number of lowering springs show up for auction with some never used but bought in the past and never installed. I find most things go half of new price.

Scot. I maybe wrong but the ZX lowering springs and struts will not interchange with the first generation Z (70-78).1970-74 appear to be also a different application for springs and struts than the later years August 1974 -78 Keep checking E Bay and Z Car.com web page

Like Tomahawk says, the spring rates are WAY different on the 240 and 280. I put some stock 280 springs on my 260, and it jacked the rear end up like a 1974 Nova on the way to the dragstrip! When placed side by side, the springs were of identical height with the same number of coils.

Good luck!

Scott
