TeeJayHoward
When in gear, my shift knob can move approximately 4-5 inches from side to side. I'd much rather have the nice, solid, click/clunk feel of my 3000GT. Is there any way to achieve this? And while I'm at it, the shifter's this thin rod - Not exactly appealing. Is there a shorter, thicker rod, perhaps with a tapered end, available?
mario_82_ZXT
For the shifter bushings on the side look here: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/shifterbushing/index.html The bottom one, just buy a new one from Nissan. The reason your 3000GT clicks and clunks is because isn't it a transverse engine? If so that means that the shifter has a linkage like most FWD cars, causing that feeling. And while I'm at it, the shifter's this thin rod - Not exactly appealing. Is there a shorter, thicker rod, perhaps with a tapered end, available? Compensating for something? You can cut it at the bottom and have a new piece welded on or you can get a shift boot like most people do. Haven't heard of a "fat" shifter that's a direct replacement. smoorenc
I got the brass ones from HELP! at autozone. They were cheap and worked great!
sweetleaf
I also went the HELP route. You may have to massage them a little (File) . They work great, they're cheap, and easy to find.
