naviathan
I got a 351W block, .030 pistons and crank for free. I never considered a Ford V8 before, but now that I have two for free (still have to pickup the second one) I might as well start looking into options with them. I know I want to rebuild one and put it in my 89 Ford Ranger, but the other I'm thinking needs to find it's home in a Z for fun. How hard is it to drop one of these in? Pics! fordsunzx
thats a good start the biggest problem with the sbf is oil pan clearance due to front mount oil pump. need a pan meant for 80s mustang. i would get some alum heads and a nice cam. naviathan
I know if this was a chevy I'd be trying to find some 2.02 heads from a 327 vette, but I'm not real keen on Ford Performance. What's a good head to look for?
fordsunzx
as far as stock ford heads late 60s 351w heads are best or newer gt40p explorer heads. for real performance dart edelbrock ford performance and tfs have nice alum and cast heads
naviathan
I'll have to look into those. One of the engines I have came out of a boat and someone said it should have better flowing heads and cam to rev up better for prop spin, think this is true? Crazy eyes
+1 on the gt40 heads, you can pick them up for a decent price, and then run either a e or f 303 cam with some nice hydraulic lifters.
