Careless
yea mine died and there is not any direct replacement for them here, we have to get them from somthing else. But rebuild parts would be sweet too, none of the numbers on the starter crosses with anything over here(i tried alot) you could buy the parts at any nissan dealer. heck, i'm willing to bet it's only the housing that's different on the outside. I bet the inside is all the same... possibly the same as N/A Z32 starter or something. anyways, open up your old starter and take a pic of what looks to be the bad news, and i'll get you a part number. RB25, correct? from what year/model if you can provide that info.
scottyMIz
bad thing is if you go into a nissan dealer and tell them what it's from they look at you like wha???????? i tried getting replaement parts thru a starter place and they said they couldn't get anything. As far as i know the z32 starter is different on the outside but like you said it might be the same on the inside. The rb starters are gear reduction starters and all the nissan ones i found and trued are all direct drive ones. Anyone got a z32 starter they can tear apart i can tell you just by seeing pics if it's even close

surfpac
" 14v 30/70A" These only push 70Amps? I'd try to retrofit a Nissan Quest alternator. 99+ is pushes 125 Amps.
scottyMIz
i tried online but that's cool got another source, i am going up to the napa store to pick up the new starter with the new number i posted before. Do you have any idea of price for like a whole starter and rebuild parts?
Careless
" 14v 30/70A" These only push 70Amps? I'd try to retrofit a Nissan Quest alternator. 99+ is pushes 125 Amps. I got a GM 12si waiting for me, and it's been rebuilt with using an older casting. The newer ones are cheaper castings and tend to rust and corrode quicker. So it's virtually new inside, and has 94amp output too =) Bigger version of the 10si that ppl swap their Datsun units for. I'll find a way to make her go =)

Careless
lol i could do that just let me know Will do. I think we should start a parts interchange thread soon. As soon as the alternator number is figured out, I'll take some time to snap some pics from the Nissan FAST and i'll put the original number and the crossed number for ease of use. We need something like that =) and since I've recently self-assumed the role of parts-number magician, I don't mind.
Racinjitter
If nobody gets an alternator interchange number for the rb25, I will be doing it this winter when it is all torn down again.

RB26powered74zcar
I'm running a fresh alt I bought from O'Reilleys Auto Parts. I took a RB25 alt I got from Venus, into O'Reilleys and the guy at the counter spent around 1/2 hr. searching the books, then went to the back of the store and came back with a match. I swore I posted the info on the part number/ applacation, but I can't find it now. There was a tiny difference on the casing where it bolts to the alt bracket on the block. I think I had to go pick up a new bolt that holds the alt to that block bracket, cause I think the spread is around 1/4 wider on this alt, so you need a longer bolt, and a few washers to shim it.... no biggie to me anyways.... Its still holding up fine and working as it should. I will try and locate the info tomorrow on the part number.
