New Brakes and what a difference.....

Recommended Posts

I just finished installing (8/31/2007) all new front brakes on my Z.

I went from having the stock two-piston caliper with tiny pads and small solid disc rotors. Now I have 4-piston calipers for a '90 4-Runner 4x4 3.0 litre V6 (http://www.partsamerica.com), vented, cross-drilled, and slotted rotors ('84-'85 300zx non-turbo) sourced from eBay. I also replaced all the rubber lines with stainless braided lines. I bought the stainless lines and disc/hub spacers from Ross.

Boy what a difference in braking. Its also nice not having any brake fade after a good stop.

Plus they look good when looking at them through my rim spokes too......

I did the whole swap for under $400.

-Stainless lines & Spacers $200 Shipped

-Reman Calipers $80 pair

-New Vented, Slotted, & Crossdrilled Rotors $85 shipped pair

-Semi-Metallic Pads $25

-Dupli-Color Caliper Ceramic Spray Paint (red) $7

-Can of Spray Brake Cleaner $2

So, what do you guys think, does it look good?

When you decide you need even better braking, get a real pair of brake pads and it'll make a huge improvement over those pads!! Brakes are your friend! (especially when we make the cars go really fast!) :)

These cheapo pads are stopping nicely. I don't do enough serious effort braking to warrant higher quality/price pads.
